Emily Schilling

Hi! My name is Emily and I have been living with type 1 diabetes for the last 14 years. I am a Registered Dietitian and Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist, working in Boston, Massachusetts. I’m an Executive Committee member for the Healthy Aging Dietetic Practice Group, as well as a member of the Diabetes Dietetic Practice Group. In my practice, I primarily work with older adults with type 2 diabetes, but feel I have a lot to offer to the type 1 community as well.

I enjoy cooking and baking, traveling, going to concerts and art exhibits, dancing, and urban gardening. I’m a foodie at heart and love trying new cuisines and restaurant experiences. I live an active, full life, and don’t need diabetes slowing me down.

Through all the highs and lows (ha!) of diabetes, I’ve come to love and respect my body; to nourish and care for it as best I can. As far as diabetes tech, I currently use the Omnipod DASH insulin pump and Dexcom G6 continuous glucose monitoring system, and am eagerly awaiting the integrated Omnipod 5 (Horizon) release!

I draw on both my personal and professional experiences to create this blog and provide you with evidence-based information you can trust.
